The Raspberry Surprise Dianthus produces numerous pink frilly 1-1 ½ inch blooms that have dark burgundy-red centers. This plant will continue to re-bloom from late Spring into mid-Summer with flowers that are fragrant and attract butterflies. The foliage has a mounding growth habit and has powdery green-gray foliage. This is a great selection for planting in beds, rock gardens, cottage gardens, mass plantings and container gardens. When planting this Dianthus, dig the hole twice as wide as the pot and mix rich garden soil in with your native soil, then leave the top of the root ball a half inch above the ground level when filling the hole with soil. Use a slow-release granular fertilizer in Spring and water regularly. Not guaranteed to be in bloom on arrival.
